[18 August 2012] Following the unprecedented success of the introduction of SILK in Lahore earlier in August, leading Pakistani personality Fawad Khan and his wife, SILK Designer Sadaf Khan, launched their brand in Islamabad at an exclusive preview event at L’atelier and in Karachi at ONE by Ensemble.
The launch at L’atelier was attended by a diversity of Islamabads social personalities, media and fashionistas alike. In Karachi the brand went straight onto the racks for retail at ONE by Ensemble.
Encompassing mid-range casual and semi-formal ready to wear clothing, SILK has fast become acclaimed for their simple and effective design ethos based in Eastern fusion wear, in line with the popular international design trends such as colour blocking, seen across runways and high street retail. As the name suggests, the brands’ designs are based solely in the purest of silks, printed digitally as well as through industry processes such as rotary printing with an endeavor to capture elegance with its aesthetic and superior quality in stitching. The very ethos of SILK rests on Fawad and Sadaf Khan’s vision for the modern woman and to this end SILK by Fawad Khan’s debut collection engages a bright colour palette, complementary to current international colour trends, to highlight the fabric’s rich shine and softness. This collection also features diverse silhouettes ranging from the more sleek and simplified cuts to the more voluminous. With a diverse price range starting from 5500, each design in manufactured in extremely limited quantities thus retaining the exclusivity of each piece.
Speaking about SILK, Fawad Khan said: “SILK was born when Sadaf and I decided to collaborate to make our vision, for women to dress in simple clean-cut styles in rich fabric, a proper venture. With our brand, we have endeavoured to branch away from the lawn focus and instead pioneer a new focus on premium fabric promising quality in design and stitching. The response to our label in Lahore was truly humbling and gave us the impetus to take it to Islamabad at L’atelier and in Karachi at ONE by Ensemble!”
Sadaf Fawad Khan, the design force behind the brand said: “For our debut collection, most designs are based simply on their colour and print appeal. Our colour blocking designs specifically received a great response in Lahore as well as online specifically in USA, Canada, UK and Dubai, which has been heartening as our patrons felt that to date, colour blocking was only really accessible to them within western urban wear or then at much higher price points through high end designers. Further, with SILK now being available online for local and international customers as well as stocked full time in Lahore at the PFDC in Islamabad at L’atelier and in Karachi at ONE by Ensemble, we look forward to introducing new design pieces mid-season as well as a whole new collection, each season.”
SILK by Fawad Khan is available for retail online and in Lahore at the PFDC, and in Islamabad at L’atelier. In Karachi, SILK by Fawad Khan priced between PKR 5500 – 10,000 is available at ONE by Ensemble with pieces above 10,000 – 12,000 at Ensemble, Karachi.
