For all the Barbie lovers out there, today is the 50th Birthday of this beautiful & smart Doll ‘BARBIE’. The Barbie doll was invented in 9th March1959 by Ruth Handler, when Barbie came with its new look in front of the world.
Mattel co-founder Ruth Handler whose own daughter called Barbra, in 1959 created the Barbie doll after noticing her daughter preferred playing with paper cut-outs of adult female fashion dolls. Barbie was introduced to the world at the American Toy Fair in New York City. The doll was invented to be a teenage fashion doll.
Other then this ken was named after Ruth’s son. Barbie first had bendable legs in 1965. Since its debut in 1959, an anatomically improbable molded plastic statuette named Barbie becomes an icon. Now it is said that ‘in every second of every day, two Barbie dolls are sold somewhere in the world’.
There has been same controversy over Barbie’s Figure when it realized that if Barbie was a real person her measurements would be an impossible 36-18-38.
. If Barbie was 5 foot 6 instead of 11 ½ inches tall, her measurements, would be 39-21-33. An academic expert once calculated that a women’s likelihood of being shaped like Barbie was less than 1 in 100,000. (Ken was shaped somewhat more realistically: The changes of a boy developing his measurements were said to be 1 in 50).
